This is my initial post on this blog. I have never done anything like blogging, so this will be a new adventure. I hope you join me on this adventure as we see where it takes us.
While experts have widely agreed on the steps communities can take to help save lives, until recently, those steps were never shared in a public manner. Success was generally found blindly or by sharing things that work between communities. Citizen CPR Foundation has created a systematic way to help and judge communities to become and maintain a HEARTSafe Community. Not only does this help the residents of those communities, but the communities also receive signs that can be displayed around the community, a form of "badge" awarded for completing something. When I think about Web 2.0 and the AHA, their Blended Learning options come to mind. The student takes the "classroom" portion of the class online, prints the certificate of completion, and finds an instructor to complete the hands-on portion. The AHA is very proud of this option, but many students find the process long, boring, and costly. For what its worth, here is the catalog of options available: Blended Learning
